I keep a Gerbil and I have six Cats. I might get hamsters next when the Gerbil passes. Marva, our Gerbil, is nearly 2 years old.

They are remarkable critters. Be careful, though -- their urge to escape their cages tends to work out badly in a cat-rich environment.
